These are the first images of the 2010 Ford C-Max -- a mini-minivan that will likely become a big part of Ford's global product portfolio.

Deemed by the automaker as a "multi-activity vehicle," think of the C-Max as a really tall European Focus. In fact, it's the first vehicle to ride on Ford's new C-platform, which will underpin the next-generation Focus in both Europe and North America.

Unlike prior C-Max models, the new van/wagon/crossover is quite stylish. Ford had hinted that the Iosis Max concept, shown earlier this year at the Geneva motor show, but it bears plenty of resemblance to the C-Max. The only sizable difference lies with the upswept rear pillar, which now bears a striking resemblance to that on the Fiesta.

Specifications on Ford's latest people mover are currently sparse, but we do know the C-Max will debut with a 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4 EcoBoost engine underhood. Sources suggest the engine will produce anywhere between 130 and 180 hp, and will likely be mated to the company's new PowerShift dual-clutch six-speed automatic transmission.

Of course, reports have also suggested the C-Max will finally make the trip across the pond. Ford spokespeople won't confirm or deny, but remind us that all the details on the revised C-Max range will emerge on September 15. Rest assured, we'll fill you in as the Blue Oval unwraps the new C-Max at the Frankfurt auto show.
