2003 New York Auto Show: Cadillac CTS-V

Cadillac showed the first example of its promised V-series line of high-performance cars, the CTS-V. The more potent CTS has the heart of a Corvette, with an LS-6 V-8 that here makes 400 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. It pairs exclusively with the familiar six-speed manual transmission (unfortunately still saddled with first-to-fourth "skip shift"). The chassis has been comprehensively upgraded, with four Brembo vented disc brakes, firmer springs and dampers, larger anti-roll bars, and eighteen-inch wheels and tires. Outside, the CTS-V gets unique front- and rear-end styling, extended lower rocker panels, and subtle badging. Production starts late in 2003.
