No, it isn't at the Detroit show this year, but it was shown in Los Angeles and it's coming later this year, so we thought we'd tell you about it. To celebrate the last year of the current M3, BMW will be offering a Competition package for 2005. The $4000 package borrows bits from the fabulous M3 CSL, a fabulous lightweight special that BMW never sold in the U.S. CSL components include lightweight 19-inch wheels, a less-intrusive DSC M track mode, and larger-diameter cross-drilled brake rotors. The competition package also uses a more direct steering ratio, an Alcantara steering wheel, and optional Williams F1-inspired "Interlagos Blue" paint. 6-speed manual and SMG transmissions are offered.
