Even the most ardent supporters of BMW's new design direction inside the company had their doubts about some aspects of the 7's styling, so it's no surprise to see that this mid-cycle face-lift tones down the protruding trunk and ugly headlamp eyebrows. More, the 745's 4.4-liter V-8 is replaced by a 4.8-liter unit in the 750i and Li. (The days when BMW model designations reflected engine capacity seem to have been long abandoned.) Power has been increased from 325 to 362 hp, with a matching 362 lb-ft of torque. While they were at it, the engineers widened the track by 0.6 inches and retuned the suspension geometry. There are now three suspension options: standard; Adaptive Drive that combines the Dynamic Drive active anti-roll bars with continuously variable EDC-C damping; and a sport setup. Inside, iDrive has been further simplified, which suggests that the original system was developed in haste and some repenting has gone on at leisure.
