Although there is still an eighteen-month waiting list for the 360 Spider in the U.S., the softtop version of the new F430 will go on sale in late summer of 2005. Like the coupe, the F430 Spider uses a 4.3-liter V-8 engine that makes 483 hp, mated to either a six-speed, sequential F1-style transmission or a traditional six-speed manual. Just like the coupe, too, the Spider offers some intriguing race-derived technology, such as an electronic limited-slip differential and steering-wheel controls for the traction control and transmission. Expect it to cost close to $200,000.
