ST stands for Sport Technologies, Ford of Europe's equivalent of the currently invisible U.S.-market Special Vehicle Team (SVT). This vehicle is the first performance derivative of the new-for-everywhere (except North America) Focus, and effectively replaces the old Focus RS. It is powered by a 217-hp, turbocharged, 2.5-liter in-line five-cylinder engine (borrowed from Volvo, whose S40 chares the same corporate C1 platform) that is hooked up to a six-speed manual trannie. Typically, it also features an aggressive bodykit, larger eighteen-inch wheels and tires, sport seats, a special instrument cluster that incorporates a turbo boost gauge, and a tuned sport suspension. Don't expect anything this cool from Ford in this market segment to make it to the U.S.--ever.
