2006 Pontiac G6 Coupe and Convertible

As Pontiac fights to reestablish itself as a big-time car company, the G6 is its core product, a car that is supposed to lead people into the brand. So it's no surprise that Pontiac has followed up its launch of the G6 sedan this past fall with two additional versions of this crucial model.

Pontiac is quick to point out that the G6 coupe has been engineered as a dedicated model, not just a revised version of the G6 sedan. What it means is that this is a real coupe, not just a two-door hardtop. All the bodywork rearward of the A-pillar is new. Aside from style, the G6 Coupe makes a statement with passenger space, as the rear seat affords only an inch less legroom than the G6 sedan, while the extra-long passenger doors help make ingress and egress as easy as possible. The full range of G6 equipment is available, including 200-hp and 240-hp V-6 engines, as well as 17-inch and 18-inch wheels.

2006 Pontiac G6 Convertible

The G6 convertible is a full-on hardtop convertible, not just a simple ragtop. Karmann, the German coachbuilding specialists, helped engineer this two-piece, clamshell-type retractable hardtop, the world's largest. A touch of a button retracts the top beneath a hard boot within thirty seconds. It delivers open-air seating for four adults, a key attribute that has helped make the Chrysler Sebring convertible the most popular convertible in the country. As with the G6 sedan, the convertible is available with either a 200-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 or a 240-hp, 3.9-liter V-6.
