2005 Kia Sport Concept Car Side View

Forget the high faluting name: this is a preview of the next generationKia Rio, which goes on sale in the U.S. early next year in four-doorsedan and five-door hatchback forms. The exterior was gussied up with asporty body kit and fat eighteen-inch wheels, but this is apparently apretty good preview as to how the new Rio will look. Inside there wasplenty of show car leather and metal trim, but you won't see anythingthis fancy in production, even if the forms and architecture aresimilar. The concept is powered by a 2.0-liter 200-hp turbochargedfour-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission, butin reality, the engines will be more prosaic. As well as looking verysimilar to a Mazda 3, the Sport Concept is close in terms of its dimensions, with a wheelbase of 98.4 inches, a height of 57.9 inches, and a length of 163.4 inches.
