Hydrogen is hot; we haven't heard this much about number one on the periodic table since the Hindenburg blew. Just a week after BMW announced plans to market a test fleet of hydrogen-powered 7-series sedans, General Motors has followed suit in a big way. In the fall of next year, the General will release over 100 fuel-cell-powered Chevrolet Equinoxes to select customers in California, New York, and Washington, D.C. in a plan dubbed "Project Driveway." The vehicles will be loaded up with a long list of safety features including side curtain air bags and stability control, and are fully functional, real-world performers engineered to last for 50,000 miles. Earlier in the month, GM also announced that the GM Sequel concept-first shown at the 2005 Detroit auto show-will wear a Chevrolet badge. All of this, and the Camaro will go into production? Times might be getting better at Chevy sooner than some of us think.
