At China's Shanghai auto show BMW unveiled this CS concept, a large, low four-door which the company describes as a Gran Turismo, not a coupe. This is a styling exercise, so mechanical details were few, but the designers told us the car could accommodate any of BMW's current engines, including the V-10, mounted aft of the front axle, and that it's rear-wheel drive.

The four-seat CS is larger than a 7-series sedan and lower than a 6-series coupe. Some of the notable design details include:

-headlamp clusters comprised of LED lights with the turn signals located above
-a roof with a lower center section
-pop-up door handles integrated into the belt-line molding
- 21-inch wheels
- frameless door glass

The interior features two-tone leather, mesh aluminum trim, air vents hidden in the gap between dashboard panels, and "hoods" behind the headrests that can be raised or lowered like a collar on a jacket.

BMW is characterizing the CS strictly as a show car, but of course, if it were to get the nod for production, we could expect it to come to the United States.
