2009 Porsche 911 Rear View

We just caught this lightly disguised 2009 911 on the Santa Monica Freeway. Now that the money is flowing in Hollywood again, Porsche has to make sure the next iteration of its rear-engined sports car will survive L.A. traffic.

The most noticeable change for next year will be the LED taillights seen here. The new units are easily spotted; our photographer saw them from over a half mile away. The lights get reshaped as well, though Porsche engineers are trying to hide that fact with some black tape that mimics the flat bottom of the current lenses.

New front and rear fascias will accompany the revised lighting setup, with larger air intakes up front incorporating the turn signals.

Click any of the images for a larger view, and don't miss the Jack in the Box antenna ball on the roof-mounted aerial. Wacky Germans.
