Honda and Acura hope to add to their presence in the mid-size segment with the performance oriented TSX, which appears in Japan and Europe as a Honda Accord. Or, put another way, Honda wants more than just an Accord in the sedan category; it wants two. The TSX will be positioned between the RSX sports coupe and the TL sedan in the Acura lineup, with more psychological allegiance to the former than the latter. The TSX features a 2.4-liter DOHC iVTEC four-cylinder that revs like blender to make its 200 horsepower. In another nod to the RSX, it channels this power through a close-ratio 6-speed manual. But the TSX's biggest nod may be to cars like the Mazda 6 and the {{{Nissan Maxima}}}, family sedans that push performance to the max. So, who needs another Accord? Acura would seem to right now. The TSX goes on sale in April.
