Chevrolet will make use of GM's Daewoo acquisition by selling these Korean-made subcompact sedans and five-door models, which will go on sale in 2004. Called the Aveo, the cars are powered by a 1.6-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine that puts out a meager 105 horsepower and 105 foot-pounds of torque. Curb weight, however, is a mere 2400 pounds, so at least the engine won't be put under much duress. ABS is optional, as is air conditioning, power locks, a CD player, sunroof, and aluminum wheels. The price should range from just under $10,000 to just over $14,000 for a fully optioned LS model.
