Subaru Unveils 2008 Impreza WRC Rally Car

By Evan McCausland

Although its launch at the Acropolis Rally in Greece is still a week away, we're already seeing official photos of Subaru's latest rally weapon, the Impreza Rally WRC2008.

Like previous Impreza rally specials, the WRC2008 is the fruit of both Subaru Technica International (STI) and the British Prodrive consortium. The car owes much of its visual lineage to STI, as it closely resembles a production Impreza WRX STI (launched at the Tokyo Motor Show last fall), but with bulging fenders and an insanely large rear wing.

Visual information is, unfortunately, all we have on the WRC2008 at this point; both Subaru and Prodrive are mum on the exact technical details until it actually takes to the track next week in the capable hands of team drivers Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson.
