Enthusiasts, rejoice - and start saving. Pricing for the new 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR has just been announced, and it'll cost you a decent chunk of change.

The MR, slotting into the Evolution lineup above the already-available GSR, differentiates itself notably via its transmission. In lieu of the five-speed manual found in the GSR, the Evolution MR comes standard with a new six-speed dual clutch transmission - providing drivers with an extra gear of fun and clutchless shifting.

That transmission carries with a hefty premium - nearly $5000. Pricing for the Evolution MR is slated to begin at $38,940, compared to a base GSR's sticker price of $33,640.

Few options are offered for the MR outside of the "Technology Package," which adds a 30-gigabyte hard drive navigation system, Rockford-Fosgate sound system, 6 months of Sirius satellite radio, and keyless entry and ignition. Evolution MRs so equipped will fetch $42,140.

Although GSRs are currently available at Mitsubishi dealers across the nation, Evolution MRs won't appear on showroom floors until June.
