MONTREAL Last year, the fine-driving Spec B was a get-it-now special--only 500 were built. For 2007, it's a full-fledged model and adds stability control, a Torsen rear differential, and the WRX STI's six-speed manual. With the new SI-Drive system, you can have your ECU served up in one of three flavors: Sport is the default setting and returns performance nearly identical to last year's car. Sport Sharp remaps the throttle for maximum go. Intelligent mode restricts power--and fun--by twenty percent for better fuel mileage in non-steady-state driving. With duller throttle response making for a less enthusiastic turbo, Intelligent mode strikes us as less than smart.
