Think of it as Enzo II. This mule, cobbled together from F430 and 430 Scuderia parts, hides what is likely the successor to Ferrari's Enzo. (The car, not the man.)

Codenamed FX70, the new super Ferrari will have to be the best prancing horse yet. It should benefit from lessons learned in Ferrari's factory-backed, Enzo-based FXX and FXX Evoluzione programs.

Specifics on the unnamed car's powertrain are still up on the air, even within Ferrari. Rumors have the company testing a 700-hp twin-turbo V-8 as well as a twin-turbo V-12 making between 750 and 800 hp. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are a new concern for Ferrari, so direct fuel injection will likely be a part of the package. Strangely, this car's fuel filler door has been covered, leaving no obvious place to inject fuel into the tank. It must be getting in there somehow though, because our spy shooters say this car sounds "just great."

We've also picked up several visual clues from the spy shots. The wheel arches have been cut and widened to accommodate a wider track and longer wheelbase. A fatty center exhaust outlet - à la Lamborghini Murciélago - renders the Scuderia tips on either side of the number plate obsolete. There are also extra engine cooling ducts in addition to those normally found along the edge of the 430's rear glass. Mismatched wheels cover carbon-ceramic brakes at all four corners. We expect generous use of carbon fiber in the body and chassis, hopefully making the car lighter than the 3000-lb Enzo. (Enzo Lite has a better ring than Enzo II, anyway.)

A timeline for introduction and production is also unknown, but this car is probably still a year or two off. When it arrives, expect the car to be tied into an anniversary or championship win like its F40, F50, and Enzo predecessors.
